  8. A flexible and easy-to-use form filler program. Create a form with any
  9. text editor, then use FED to fill it out and print it. If the command
  10. line is empty or a directory is entered without a file name or there
  11. are wild card characters (* or ?) in the file name, FED will pop up a
  12. list of files to choose from. Wild card characters will restrict what
  13. files are displayed in the list. If the keyword ONLY is specified after
  14. the file name you will not be able to choose another file from inside
  15. the program.

  17. The file name entered on the command line is a standard ASCII text file.
  18. FED uses the file as a form with input fields designated by a series of
  19. underlines with a leading and trailing space. The user will be able to
  20. enter text into the fields. The form can be printed or saved to a file
  21. with the information that was entered into the fields. The input file
  22. itself is not changed unless you overwrite it when saving to a file.

  24. There are three types of files you can save: a standard text that will
  25. be exactly the same as the printed output, a data fields only file, and
  26. a special Form File that contains the form and field information. The
  27. Form File can be read back into FED any time with the data entered into
  28. the fields still in place. This is a way to place defaults into the form.
  29. You will be able to add, change, and delete information in the fields
  30. then print it and/or save it again.

  32. These are the file and input field limits of the form editor program:
  33. Maximum number of records (lines) in the form (file): 800
  34. Maximum number of characters displayed from one line: 80
  35. Maximum number of input fields on one screen (24 lines): 120
  36. Maximum number of input fields in complete form: 2000
